Compare-at-Price (CAP) is an optional field in Shopify that allows you to display discounts or savings to your customers. The CAP should always be set higher than your advertised price to effectively highlight a discount.

How to use Compare-at-Price (CAP)

Bulk editing CAP

  1. Open the bulk editing menu in Vela.

  2. Locate CAP in the leftmost menu, below inventory.

  3. Use the editing tools to:
    • Increase by a fixed amount or percentage.

    • Decrease by a fixed amount or percentage.

    • Change to a specific value.

  4. Enter the desired price or percentage and apply changes.

CAP Guidelines and Rules

  • Purpose: CAP is used to display a discount to customers.

  • Rule: The CAP value must be higher than the list price to indicate a discount.

  • Error handling: If the CAP is lower than the list price, Vela will highlight it in red to flag the issue.

Editing CAP Individually

  • You can manually edit CAP for individual listings.

  • When making changes to an individual listing, Vela will automatically deselect that listing from bulk edits.

Saving and syncing changes

  • A green dot will appear next to updated listings, confirming that changes have been saved in Vela.

  • Once you’re satisfied with your updates, click Sync to apply the changes to your Shopify shop.
